moderplusone

Solo recording project, produced by Jordan MacRae. The process of making these tracks is intimate and dear to me, recording at home in Glasgow, usually into the wee hours of the morning, utilising a mix of obselete tape machines such as the Tascam 424 and lots of handheld microcassete dictaphones. I have processed my field recordings and instrumentation with granular sampling devices, and destructive processes to help bring out the flaws and textures, slowing the tracks to half speed or lower on tape machines. I have been recording music for 7 years and last year (2022) I decided to create a bandcamp page under the alias of Moderplusone primarily to encourage myself to finish things.

The bandcamp’s fundamental service is to me, a place to put things when they are finished and have them available to hand when I need them. Any by-product of this is a bonus. My production has always been a hobby exclusively to soothe myself. Creating these sounds that help me feel at ease, and for half a decade that is all they did. Now available for any ears that may find them I hope they may soothe one other person who might find them at the right time.
